The building inspection came back with their report today. Overall it seemed like the houses are in “good condition for their age” which is probably the best I could have hoped for, as I already knew they were no palaces. So, it looks as though I will be going through with buying the property.
I have been getting a lot of friendly emails from people wishing me encouragement and offering advice. Thanks, I really appreciate it. I hope that writing about my experiences will help someone else. If anyone is procrastinating over what they should do, try to avoid listening to negative people and trust your own instincts. My grandfather offered me some great advice: once you have made a decision, stick to it. Don’t be swayed by other people offering different opinions. For me, the advice has always worked.
I have just finished reading a book The Art of the Start by Guy Kawasaki. The book has a lot of great advice for people embarking on launching a new business, especially in the IT area. When you are thinking of potential problems, it is great when people write about stuff that you might be worried about. For example, what he writes about “bootstrapping” where you start a business basically from your garage has given me a great deal of confidence in my new ventures.
