I finally found someone else who keeps creating new websites, without fully developing their current projects. I thought I was the only one guilty of doing this.
I totally understand her sentiments. Since, it can sometimes take more than a year or so for a site to get going it is really hard to get motivated to put all of your effort into the site.
The way I tend to go about is, put up a new site, add some content and some pictures and try to get a couple of links to it from other sites. Wait to then get indexed by Google and put up some kind of ads. Create some way for people to leave comments so you know when some is actually interested in your site.
I occasionally check back on the statistics of the site – both traffic and income. If I am having some progress with the site, I then go back to it and try to spend an amount of time on it in relation to what kind of income I can expect to back.
Trying to manage everything with project management software sounds like a good idea, but for me I think it would be a waste of my time and would definitely make it feel more like a job than a income-producing-hobby for me.

While I truly enjoy my work online, it is my sole source of income – and therefore more of a career than a hobby.
I find it interesting how different people approach online business, and the various ways that they manage their ventures. I’ve enjoyed browsing through your blog here – noted a couple of interesting things (ex: I’m a huge fan of Napoleon Hill too!).
At any rate, Motivation and Patience I have… though I admit Project Management and sometimes even Time Management are my weaker points. That’s something I’m constantly working on, though. The best solution for me, I think, is a good program to keep everything organized – and outsourcing the things that I can.
I think this is a struggle for a lot of people. I’ve seen it mentioned on discussion forums, it has come up in conversations with my peers, etc. So we’re not alone on any of those points!
Best,
Lynn Terry
lol – you haven’t taken a close look at some of my satellite sites – not to mention the domains sitting there waiting to be worked on that haven7t even been put up
I can imagine juggling multiple sites can be a challenge. I have enough on my plate just maintaining one blog. I am curious if most of your income is from your websites or Real Estate? I am new to your blog and have not gone thorough your past entries. Sorry if you already addressed this issue.
Andrew, that is a good question.
In terms of monthly cashflow, my websites perform better. Costs are relatively low. I do spend hours working on them though.
My property costs are fairly high, taxes, insurance, loan repayments and so on. I don’t have to much “work” though to make money. Property also has higher potential capital gain.
