Power outages

I planned to get a bit of work done today before moving to Trat, but the power went off. Apparently the power outages aren’t as common as before in Koh Chang, but it is a friendly reminder that even with the best internet connection available, you still need to have power.

Next stop – Cambodia.

Currently reading: My Life as a Quant. It is bringing back a few memories of working on a helpdesk for a securities firm a few years ago. It is book that I would not normally spend the time reading, but came across the book in second-hand book store, which there are plenty of in the tourist areas of Thailand.

Not too long ago, on your recommendation, I picked up the Bangkok Babylon by Jerry Hopkins. Really good book with some of the stories almost hard to believe.
Because I am now in Thailand long term, I keep on lookout for similar books and so I also came across You’ll never walk alone by Debbie Singh (story about an aussie imprisoned in “Bangkok Hilton”). Although IMHO not as good as Bkk Babylon, its an interesting read indeed.

With the extra I have these days, I am reading so much more than I used to. There are some great second bookshops along the tourist trails and you can even sell back the books you have finished reading.

I have always had an interest in Asia, so I love reading both non-fiction and fiction stories based in Asia.

I have been reading some books on Cambodia and the history is just chilling, especially when it happened not so long ago.
