Not quite retired yet

November 27, 2006

Even though I announced that I am quitting my job, it doesn’t mean I am sitting back on a beach drinking martinis.

I still have a lot of work to do. The beauty is that I now have a lot more choice and freedom as to what and where I want to live and work. I need to be careful with maintaining my bank balances and maintain my cash flow, like all good businesses.

Lately I have considered looking into SEO related jobs. There are actually jobs in my hometown, Melbourne where they are looking for people with SEO experience. I would get a kick out of this, just to see what companies are looking for in this area. I wouldn’t even mind doing some physical work like a bicycle courier to get back in shape.

If there is anyone in Melbourne reading this and into working on websites, please send me an email, I would love to meet up.

    Congratulation!

I’m not in Melbourne though. :)

Congrats! I think networking with like-minded people in Australia, via an SEO job or whatever, is a good idea. I’ve always had jobs that were hard to explain to people. Just say you’re going to be a “consultant”. :)

I like “consultant”! although, the next questions will be, “so what do you consult in?”.

    Ken, are you from Australia?

    Mike,

“Internet Marketing Consultant” is a pretty generic term that tends to make most people stop asking questions.

I have the same problem whenever people ask me, “So, what do you do?”

I’ve probably answered that question in about 50 different ways over the year. These days, I usually say “I work in Internet marketing”

I am going to try “internet marketing”. It is going to be difficult to explain to my grandfather on Christmas Day! How times have changed.

Got something to say?
