Internet marketing – online MLM

August 17, 2006

Internet Marketing sadly seems to be going down the familiar path of similar making easy money schemes. People have an online success with their website and make some good money, but the real money to be made is creating a product telling how you achieved your success.

Personally, I love reading these types of books. Often they have some good ideas and can be a great source of motivation. Robert Kiyosaki and now the likes of Joel Comm and Mike Filsaime seem to making some serious cash selling their books and programs.

I think they are all intelligent people who understand a great deal about marketing. But sadly for most people who read the books and participate in the programs, don’t act on any of the advice.

Some people do though and they then release their own books and products, thus creating this ongoing cycle, not unlike multi-level marketing.

The “curiosity” value is one of the greatest and powerful marketing techniques available. All of the sales pages will have the word “secret” somewhere. When people hear a story about a person who made $100,000 in just 3 months with no computer experience, the urge to read their story is extremely powerful. The whatisthesecret.com website is a good example of this.

Many people like to defame these people for their business practices and label them as being unethical – I personally don’t have a problem with what they do. I am sure 99 per cent of the population, given the chance would do the same. However, I do think they are on the expensive side, especially if you don’t get around to implementing any of the ideas.

I believe a great deal of these ideas are just recycled labelled with a new name. You could possibly do just as well picking up a marketing 101 book.

Network Marketing today is moving towards real people being really authentic with the opporunity. Usually people are keeping a secret for a reason. I think it’s best to be upfront about everything.

I don’t know about the other two, but
Mr. Kiyosaki is a bit too slippery for
my taste. Too much of his books just
say nothing, and there are too many
    questions about his background… “Well,
I’m just using the story of a ‘rich dad’ and a
‘poor dad’, I didn’t mean that people should
    take that story literally…..”

Great article. It is a sad day when we have come to this. You are right everything released is just the same old junk rehashed.

Got something to say?
