I need your feedback
August 31, 2006
My designer has given me his first concept for my new site. I think it still needs a little more work, bit it fits fairly well with what I asked for.
You can see it here.
I would appreciate any ideas or suggestions.

Will ad revenue be a big (or the biggest) source of income for this website? If so, a footer ad won’t yield much revenue at all in a cost-per-click model.
Thanks for the feedback. I am definitely planning on getting on all the ad revenue I can get! I agree, the banner needs to be at the top - no one is going to buy ad space at the bottom of the page.
Looks pretty good. I don’t have anything really to say but maybe the colors could be a little lighter.
Being a designer myself I can point out one thing I don’t like. The logo is not appropriate with the layout you have. I think something simple and clean will suit the site much better. Tell me what you think if you block out the logo with your hand and look at the layout. Is it better? We all have different taste but I think it can be better. Check out http://coolhomepages.com/ and look at travel sites. That way you get a better feel for what works and what dosen’t. Have fun!
Thanks for everyone’s comments. It is sometimes really hard to put in words what you want.
If you’re going to try to get as much ad revenue as possible, then the site design should be flexible enough to allow ads in multiple places. Here are places they should be
1. Banner on the top right corner
2. Ad right above the pictures
3. Ads on the left side bar
4. Ads on the right side bar
Note that the ads have to blend into the site, whether they be text links, adsense blocks, or banners.
Andre,
I did think about this, but I think it is going to be a while before I will be making any decent money from advertising.
I am hoping to get established a bit before I start putting adsense everywhere on the site. This is definitely going to be a long term project.
