Day 5 – 28 Site Challenge

Written by Mike

Topics: 28 Site Challenge, General, Websites

I installed Word Press on this site towards the end of January, but haven’t done much with it since.

Today I played with the template and configured Aksimet and installed an Amazon plugin which allows you to insert Amazon products easily into blog posts.

Here is the site: Travel Gadget Blog.

I am sure people wonder why I go with the blog format, but for me it is the easiest way to build and maintain a website. WordPress has hundreds of plugins which can give functionality to a site.

My goal is to eventually find someone to help write for the site for a share in the revenue.

Blog format is the only one allowing you to put up half decent designed site fairly quickly. I think that’s a right choice and that’s why I do it myself that way too:)
I am not interested in spending stresfull days over code for a site of uncertain sucess.

Wordpress IMO is only getting better and better both as a blogging tool and a CMS.

An imposter with my name! ;-)

WP is gold. I can whip up a good site in under a day now with it.

I have gathered a great set of plugins to which make everything easier.

I need a stable shop plugin for the new version though.

I havent seen any shop plugins (you mean a shop cart thingy righ?) and I was also looking for some decent plugin to handle signups/membership (Joomla has that feature I am pretty sure I saw it on Mike’s Joomla sites) any pointers?

Imposting and now sooo OT I am busted aint I?

  5. Mike says:

Virtuemart for Joomla is pretty good, although I haven’t tried the shopping cart yet.
