Change of scenery in Hua Hin

Monday, March 3rd, 2008

I came to Hua Hin yesterday, which is about 4 hours south of Bangkok. It is a pleasant enough seaside resort, perfect for getting away from Bangkok. The beach is not as great as some of Thailand’s islands, but it is not a bad place to go to get away from the congestion of Bangkok. [...]

The nicest cup of tea I have ever had

Saturday, February 23rd, 2008

I am in Thailand now and this weekend some elections are being held. I took a quick look at the online edition of the Bangkok Post and couldn’t find anything about it. And why would this bother a foreigner holidaying in Thailand? Perhaps to give Thai people a chance to spend some time thinking about [...]

The coolest internet cafe I have seen

Thursday, February 14th, 2008

I had a look around the Paragon shopping center today in Bangkok and came across True Urbanpark. The design is pretty impressive. It is an internet cafe, coffee shop and they sell computers, gadgets and mobile phones. It is the perfect place for trendy nerds to hangout.

On the move again

Friday, February 8th, 2008

I am going to Thailand this weekend for the start of a new trip. I am planning to travel north up through Thailand, to Laos and China before arriving in Beijing where I will be staying until after the 2008 Beijing Olympics. I bought a new Canon EOS 400D which I have been learning how [...]

One more week in Beijing

Friday, December 7th, 2007

The time has gone incredibly fast here and I will be jetting back to Australia in just over a week. I remember it was just a few weeks ago when I was suffering from the cold and feeling like I couldn’t wait to get back to Australia quick enough. I haven’t been able to do [...]

Think in verticals not niches and a new website

Sunday, October 28th, 2007

Over about the past year or so, since I started creating multiple websites the advice has always been to create a website based on a particular niche. The theory goes that it is difficult for new players to break into highly competitive markets. I think niches are still a good way to make money, but [...]

Mini successes

Thursday, October 11th, 2007

After yesterday’s burst in traffic, I just checked my YouTube stats and I have had 683 views for the video I took on the new Beijing subway line. It looks like a couple of sites picked up the video. I took it on the day that it opened. I actually went there in the morning [...]

Staying in Beijing for a while

Tuesday, October 2nd, 2007

After nearly six months of constant travel, I have moved into an apartment in Beijing. The whole process was so easy. Basically if you have the money, no-one seems to mind what you are doing. The complex has several huge apartment towers with a coffee shop and a whole bunch of other basic shops to [...]

The journey begins

Tuesday, September 25th, 2007

I am in China now to work on my Olympic project. I can’t stop thinking of different ideas to try and implement. It is exciting to feel that for the first time in six months I am actually traveling for a real purpose, related to one of my websites. I also had to use my [...]

When every day is a weekend

Thursday, September 13th, 2007

I guy from Belgium I had been out drinking with a couple of times who is currently on a year’s leave of absence from his job said to me, “everday feels like a weekend”. This is one of the nice things about working while traveling, but it can be difficult at times. Everyone around you [...]
