A website a week

I have been thinking of the feasibility of creating one new website per week. I can’t keep creating blog type websites. It is taking too much of my time updating the existing blogs I have.

It is bad enough thinking of how I have to upgrade my existing blogs to version 2 of WP.

I have started another new website: Designer Corkscrews. I like the design of theme. It is basically just affiliate links to Amazon. I doubt much that it will make money, but in total it only took a couple of hours to put together.

At least than $10 a domain, I only need to earn $11 from it to turn a profit.

Seems like a nice idea, but I don’t agree with the $10/$11 theory. If you currently have a job, how much per hour do you earn there? Now, multiply that by the number of hours you take to create the site, and I’d say you have to make THAT much to make a profit.

Of course, because it’s fun, your time could be free. (NOT a punt, but kind of the theme of my website).

    Anyways… ENjoy.

  2. That site is definantly what they mean by a niche website…

Good luck with the site a week thing, I hope it works out for you.

My gosh, the corkscrew website is brilliant in its simplicity.

Why the heck can’t I come up with stuff like this?

    Truly brilliant.

By the way, what did you use to get that static homepage in WordPress? I’ve been having some problems getting the usual static page plugins to work right …

    Again, simply brilliant.

  4. I’ve been running into some problems with the building niche websites program. If I don’t promote them, there is no traffic and they make very little money. When we only had 5 I could spend enough time to get them all bringing in $30+ a month. Now that we have expanded to over 20, we’re luck if a new on brings in $10 a month. Granted in time they will hopefully work their way up in search engines, but they help very little now. We’ve come up with some ideas to try and solve this although I’m not sure how they will work out or if they will succeed. They certainly aren’t losing money, but I’m questioning whether building more is the best use of my time when the ones now are not performing well…

I don’t know about brilliant, but I like the simple design. To create static pages in WP, just click on “Page” instead of “Post”. That is all there is to it.

I don’t know if it is a good strategy or not. Some days are good, some are very lousy.

I think the strategy can work if you are a little patient, watch your statistics carefully and possibly lucky.

Make sure you know exactly how people are finding you, whether it is from links or through the search engines, and then try to build on this information.
