New blog on Web 2.0
January 31, 2006
I have finally uploaded a new site on Web 2.0. I had the idea to do this some time ago, but just got around to installing WP and the theme.
I know I am definitely creating too many sites I can handle, but my approach is putting up a lot of sites and then seeing what might be successful. I am also hoping that people might be interested in any of the sites.

Here are the tips.
First day back at work
January 30, 2006
It was my first day back at work today. It wasn’t pretty to say the least, but now that I have clearer goals to quit by the end of the year, it is a lot easier to get through.
I have already broken my Adsense record this month with one more day to go. I am still yet to find a tenant for the latest place I bought so I am in a bit of a mixed situation right now.
Last day of holidays
January 28, 2006
It is my last day of holidays today. I have already taken so many holidays this year, I probably won’t be doing much travelling. Which is not too much of a bad thing, as I want to save as much as I can this year. Last year I went to Taiwan, Bali and China so it will be interesting to see if it will make much difference to my savings by staying at home.
Last I year I bought four houses in New Zealand, a website and started numerous others. I probably won’t be buying anymore property this year, but will be saving money to start a new life towards the end of this year, hopefully running my own business(es).
I am a firm believer in setting goals and trying to keep to them. I believe it is the only way to achieve success, without entirely relying on luck.
I will posting clearer goals of what I expect for the year in the coming couple of weeks.
Still on holiday
January 26, 2006
I am still on holidays, which is the reason why for the lack of updates on this blog and all my sites. I will be back in Tokyo on the weekend. It it is going to be 38 degrees here in Melbourne and probably about 4 degrees in Tokyo.
I have decided to make this year for saving and consolidation on the property front. I am strongly thinking of moving from Tokyo in the coming year. Tokyo and Japan are great, fun places to live and I am sure I will be back some time in the future, but I think I need a change of location again.
Creating websites for me has been the most successful method for earning income outside of earning an ordinary salary. It will give me the opportunity to try my hand at working at something else.
In the coming weeks, I will be calculating how much approximately I will need to move to another country and making goals to reach this target.
Opening an Internet cafe
January 23, 2006
I know it is not the most original idea, but while travelling around the past month, I have started to think it would be nice to run an internet cafe.
I always thought that Internet cafes would eventually become redundant, but they have actually become more important for travellers. Most places I visited were often full.
Some of the advantages I can think of in running an internet cafe:
- I could work on my sites full-time while running the cafe
- Get to meet people travelling around
- Live in some beautiful tourist spot
- Cheaper living costs if I don’t live in a major city
- Fairly cheap set up costs
- Build a business which I could potentially sell at a later time
- Offer lots of other services such as travel info, network games, telephone cards, photo printing and so on.
Disadvantages:
- Long hours
- Potentially a competitive market
January 2006 earnings up

Without doing much at all on my websites, I have had some record days this month.
January seems to be a great start to the year!
The power of the pen
January 18, 2006
I was going through my notebook (the paper variety) today, which I wrote a lot of stuff in while I was in China.
I looked back at one entry which I wrote and could not remember what it meant. After a few moments it came back to me. I thought that it was’t a bad idea, something which I had forgotten about completely.
I realize how beneficial using a notepad to jot down ideas could be. Whenever, you are riding a train, watching tv ideas can pop to your mind. If you don’t write them down, you could easily forget some fantastic ideas.
The idea relates to my sister’s job and she said that she would be interested in helping to work on the site. This relates to my theory of working with people who have a lot to say and some excellent knowledge in their field but know nothing of developing a website.
I create the structure - they provide the content. It’s a win-win situation for everyone involved.
I want to go full-time
January 13, 2006
I had a really busy week at work. Travelling around China for 2 weeks, made me think how great it would be to work at developing websites full-time.
But then again, it might different if that became my main “work” rather than doing it because it’s a hobby and I enjoy doing it in my spare time.
Perhaps if the income could stabilize a bit more, and I could get a few, successful, “meaty” websites set up.
Off to Australia tomorrow. My limited internet access is going to reduce my posting for the next couple of weeks. In terms of Adsense, January could be one of my best months. I hope the trend continues for the whole year!
